Kenan Professor of Government Harvey C. Mansfield '53, at last week's protest, was quoted in The Crimson as saying "I was disguested by moronic Harvard students chanting political slogans" (News, March 10). I understand that Mansfield did not value the message that I, along with hundreds of other students and workers communicated to the assembled faculty and administrators on Tuesday. I did not, however, appreciate being called a moron...
...understand some of Wisse's objections to the rally, including that "it is uncommonly rude to speak when someone else has the floor." She may be "ashamed" of the protesters, but I am ashamed, too. I am ashamed to be affiliated with a university which consistently fails to listen to its students. I think that the cries on Tuesday were born of frustration, not disrespect. Rape is a terrifying crime, and that a world-renowned university unequipped to handle it is an embarrassment...

Nothing could be further from the truth. The presidential scandal has merely served to separate those who understand feminism from those who would turn it into a mindless and meaningless hysteria. Feminism has not, does not and will never claim that all women are automatically right. Feminism is, as the popular bumper sticker proclaims, "the radical notion that women are people." Feminism suggests that a woman's place in life is determined by each individual woman...
