THERE'S no easy way to describe Three Thirty Four, the 1970 Harvard Yearbook. It is a wildly uneven product, amusing and profound in some sections, abysmally poor in others. This probably makes it better than many of its predecessors, which didn't achieve even the scattered excellence that Three Thirty Four can boast. But the pattern of the work is still puzzling. ...shot wide of the mark, but a few scenes (notably a satire on assassination investigators) hit close enough for Writer-Director Brian De Palma and Producer Charles Hirsch to be called "promising," and to get them a major distributor's financing for a sequel. Hi, Mom/!is the uneven result...

Trans World Airlines reported a $40 million loss for the quarter, partly caused by the work slowdown on the part of air-traffic controllers during March. RCA, hurt by a decline in sales of television sets and other consumer items, had a profit drop of 36%, to $27 million. Oil-company earnings so far have generally decreased...

...cast of Daniel is more uneven, but again one singer stands out. His name is Lawrence Bakst, and he possesses one of the most attractive and effortless tenor voices around. It would be good to hear him more often in the Cambridge area. The other lead singers were generally effective, with Chalyce Brown an especially striking Queen. The chorus also sang well, but their acting was only to varying degrees appropriate. The entrance of the Queen's seven attendants, all smiling like airline stewardesses, was more appropriate to a Miss America pageant than a medieval pageant-opera...
