Marimmekko is Finnish for "a little girl's dress for Mary." It's also the trademark of an enterprise which annually sells some 20,000 dresses in this country through Cambridge-based DESIGN RESEARCH (57 Brattle). (Ordinarily, a fabric is designed for a particular dress.) Marimekkos are sexy by implication rather than by cut. They belong in the never-never land between the housedress and the beach shift...
Wearing his brigadier general's uniform and two-star kepi, De Gaulle addressed a curiously subdued crowd of 200,000 from the balcony of the National Palace-the first visiting dignitary ever accorded that honor. "A religious order would be infinitely the best choice." The woman who is not wild about convents can always settle down and start breeding. No one cares what she's wearing then. Even Mrs. Guinness admits that: "Fortunately, we do not have to have our clothes on when busy multiplying ourselves...
...expected to handle the logistics of getting the troops to Cyprus. He also named India's Lieut. General Prem Singh Gyani as commander of the U.N. peace-keeping force. Already in Cyprus as a U.N. observer, Gyani changed from civilian clothes to a resplendent uniform topped by a blue beret. His record as commander of the U.N. Emergency Force in the Middle East was faultless, and he has also served the U.N. in Yemen. As mediator, U Thant submitted the name of Guatemala's Jose Rolz-Bennett, 45, a lean, capable attorney with a growing reputation...
