Within a year, Transradio news was being barked over more than 90 stations. Soon it was clear that the upstart agency had upset the plans of the publishers and press associations to limit news broadcasting. U. P. and I. N. S. decided to sell their news to commercial radio sponsors; within A. P., agitation for a similar plan was begun...
...trade practice rules for the silk industry. As it has already done with the rayon industry, FTC at the request of certain members of the silk business drew up a proposed set of rules which will not go into effect until after a public hearing August 2. Points which upset the industry last week were that the label on silk state the exact proportion of metallic weighting and finishing materials in the goods, if any, and that the word "silk" may not be used in a firm's name unless a "substantial part" of its business is devoted...
Most surprising upset of the election was the showing of Dublin's Lord Mayor, Alfred Byrne, Fine Gael Party member. For 20 years dapper, little "Alf" has ruled the Dublin roost. When Hannah straggles into the household of a high-school science teacher...

He floated a vast amount of foreign loans, financed railroads, built power plants in Manila and a railroad in Bolivia. But the War upset the applecart of international finance. In 1922 Speyer's London firm dissolved; in 1934 the Lazard Speyer-Ellissen banks in Berlin and Frankfurt dissolved. Speyer & Co. also had its troubles in the U. S. Its share in foreign loans dwindled; its patronage of the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway...
