Producer Joe Losey from New York who has been assigned the duty of getting the play on the stage was upset over the action of Radcliffe in the matter but anticipated no difficulty in whipping the cast into shape in time for the opening curtain on May 2. There has been no new casting since the ban on Radcliffe girls but rumor has it that several debutantes who were in early tryouts might be recruited to fill the parts...

...January under a "gag rule" the House passed the Independent Offices Appropriation bill providing money for pensions and government salaries in the form the Administration wanted it. But the Senate, where no gag rule prevails, upset everything by voting back the Federal pay cuts and practically all the pension cuts. The House on a second go-round restored two-thirds of the Federal pay cut, and 75% of their former pensions to "presumptives." The bill as passed did not quite wipe out the savings of the 1933 Economy Act, but it did wipe out the principle of executive control...

Even further removed from possible practical application were the researches which famed Dr. Frederick Grant Banting, co-discoverer of insulin, reported to the American Association for Cancer Research in Toronto last week. First, by proxy, he upset the theory that tissue grafts of Rous sarcoma, a transplantable animal tumor, continue to grow and spread in their new host. Instead, the transplanted tumor, he had found, disintegrates, starts a new tumor growing around it. Later Dr. Banting himself stood up to tell the cancermen a story of his four fruitless years of trying to make chickens immune to Rous sarcoma...
