Professor Boyesen was born in Norway in 1848. In 1869 he came to America where he began life in Chicago as an editor of a Norwegian-Danish newspaper. Later he accepted a professorship of Latin and Greek in Urbana University, Ohio. In 1874 he was made assistant professor of German at Cornell University, and in 1875 was made a full professor. He remained there until 1880, when he went to New York with a view of devoting himself entirely to literature. ...Student (Urbana, III.) has copied - we say copied because it does not bear the usual "Written for The Student" upon its heading, but some other name - an article comparing Dickens and Tyndall, for no other reason than that they are both Englishmen, - a sufficient ground, no doubt, in The Student's eyes.
