...Palminteri and Walraff are all fine (Walraff gives an especially marvelous performance), but this movie belongs to the women. Anjelica Huston delivers a dream of a performance. Her acting seems effortless, and Huston is profoundly sexy in the manner of women who have had a bit of life experience (Vanessa Redgrave also springs to mind). She is also intensely witty; her whole body has become a witty instrument, and she can get more out of a raised eyebrow than out of a page of dialogue...

Despite the aesthetic pleasure (and sick glee) to be enjoyed from the above short's the best films of the bunch are also the funniest. "The Janitor," an Oscar nominee by Canadian Vanessa Schwartz, uses mellow vernacular and quirky sketches of a naked old man's body to bring a janitor of the universe to life. Lines describing the moon as a "sure" nub dustcatcher" don't hurt either...

...dialogue. A series of scenes portraying Caleb and Angela thoughout the day in the office is subtly humorous, and gives the actors a chance to be human; for once, they aren't running around screaming. The same may be said for a scene in which Angela and her boss, Vanessa (Holly Kretschmer) sit at a lunch counter discussing the various attributes of okra vs. eggplant, under the adoring eye of their busboy, Javier (Spyros Poulios), who likes "both okra and eggplant." These brief, intelligent scenes make you wish there were more moments like them, and fewer in which characters stripped...
