...parlaying a Word document into a Web page is a new variant on the old "Save As..." command. This command, called "Save As Hypertext Markup," converts Word documents, including any special bells and whistles like custom formatting, to equivalent HTML code which can be "spun" onto the Web via a Web server (a computer specially configured to handle Web requests from other computers around the world...

...students take these courses in the first place? When I pose this question to friends enrolled in creative writing courses, the answer is frequently a variant on the this theme: "I always wanted to write some short stories (or a collection of poems) and the class is a wonderful opportunity to do so." Thus the selection of the musical numbers is crucial. But how to choose? In their attempt to embrace nearly the whole of the novel, Kern and Hammerstein wrote a great deal of material that was later discarded. Trying to piece together an "authentic" version of a show with more variant editions than Boris Godunov, therefore, is nearly impossible. ...short answer, say doctors: no way. While the streptococcus bacterium is very common -- it causes the strep throat that everyone catches sooner or later -- the publicized cases involve a deadly variant of the germ that is rare. Up to 15,000 people come down with invasive Group A strep every year, and perhaps 3,000 die. The infection is easily treatable, though, if caught early. Moreover, the microbe has been around for years, and no one thinks it will suddenly cause a pandemic...
