...Republican initiatives which was defeated was an attempt to bar FDA meat inspectors from scientifically inspecting meat for E. Coli and other bacteria, viruses and vermin. Until now, FDA inspectors were only permitted to inspect meat visually. Each year, thousands of people die from eating contaminated meat, and many more become ill. Yet the Republicans sided with the meat industry, which see the new regulations only as a serious meat to profits...

...charred to cinders. The only discernible feature on a decayed corpse is the diagonal throat slash from right ear through to the spinal column-the ghoulish trademarks that every Algerian recognizes as the signature of the guerrillas who sprang from the outlawed Islamic Salvation Front (F.I.S.). "The fundamentalists are vermin," declares a government official. "We must wipe them out, even if we have to kill millions of people...

Stevie (Robert Carlyle), an ex-con finding construction work in London, falls in love with a pretty girleen (Emer McCourt) who wants to be a saloon singer. Conservationists have lobbied for years to reintroduce gray wolves to Yellowstone National Park. But the terms of the debate have changed. A hunter has shot one of a pack of five animals just south of the park. If they are wolves, and not wolf-dog hybrids, they probably migrated from Montana. The conventional scientific wisdom said they would make the trip eventually -- just not this soon...
