...Philadelphia for Washington, which they reached in the latter part of the afternoon. Monday, Christmas Day, was spent in the capital and all who had never been there before had a good opportunity to see the principal sights before they left. A few of the men went to Mt. Vernon during the day. In the afternoon a tea was given in honor of the clubs by Mrs. John G. Walker.
