Hard-hitting transferral to the screen of Robert Ruark's harder-hitting best-seller about the white British versus the black Mau-Mau in Africa. Laudably, the complex issues are not oversimplified; and both sides are properly shown to be at fault. Superlative performances by Sidney Poitier, Wendy Hiller and Juano Hernandez. Even Rock Hudson is good; and Dana Wynter's appearances are fortunately brief...
