...sometimes Nanette is amusing because it so caters to our voyeuristic impulses. A 1925 musical played in 1970 can't help revealing the bones of the genre. A lawyer struts around the stage, and his hands go first in his trouser pockets, then in his vest pockets, then on his hips.
