Spume laden, a storm swept in from the subtle Mediterranean last week, struck between Genoa and Leghorn. For hours Italian shipping was buffeted. Many fishing smacks floundered. Viareggio and other resorts on the Italian Riviera were inundated. At last the storm veered overland through Tuscany and Emilia to Venice.
