...Castle Square Opera Company makes its second Wagnerian production the coming week, the selection of "Tannhauser" having been made by Director Jaxon with a view to gratifying the wishes of thousands of Castly Square patrons who are eager to have a further hearing of the Wagner repertoire. As was done in the "Lohengrin" production, the organization will be largely augmented to meet the demands of the opera as regards the chorus and orchestra, and some singers, new to the company, will be heard in some of the roles...

...Mandolin Club has been handicapped this spring by losing a number of men from the leading parts by the resignation of the '97 members. Then, too, the management has increased the total number with a view to giving a more powerful volume of tone, so that now there are fifteen mandolins and seven guitars. Under these circumstances the progress in the short time the club has been playing has been most satisfactory. The club has been given the use of No. 1 Lawrence Scientific Shool for rehearsals and the benefits from a large room are shown in a great improvement...
