Moreover, I must disagree with Gary Taylor's Viewpoint in which he argued against Shakespeare's reputation as history's pre-eminent playwright. Renaissance dramatists Thomas Middleton and Robert Greene were good and even great, but definitely not as great as Shakespeare. My enjoyment of Shakespeare's language, wit and universality has grown steadily over the past 50 years...
