...extremely small fractional parts come into play. Professor J. Trowbridge and Dr. S. Sheldon are at work on Electro motive forces, while Professor J. Trowbridge and Mr. Sabine propose to study the surface to the moon and determine its character by means of the absorption of the ultra-violet rays by surfaces of rock, ice and snow...

...images two inches in diameter; nine with an eighteenth camera. Twenty-five negatives were taken to measure the brightness of the corona and surrounding; five negatives to search for inter-Mercurial planets; twenty to study the spectrum of the corona. They will reach from yellow rays to extreme ultra violet. Seven observations were made with photometer measure. The general illumination during totality was found lighter than the eclipses of 1878 and 1888. The corona was similar to those of 1868 and 1878, but showed much more detail than the latter...

...permit the photographing of eight different regions of the spectrum of the corona at the spectrum of the corona at the same time, which will be wholly in the green and yellow parts of the spectrum. Other apparatus will take photographs of the blue region and the ultra-violet, or that which it is beyond the power of the eye to perceive. The plates will not be developed at Willows but they will be brought out leisurely either at Cambridge or at Southern California where the party is to go, after the eclipse is over, to work for the benefit...

...extend the spectrum beyond the visible part. The great interest of to-day, however, centers in the invisible rays of heat. Until very recently, photographs could only be taken by violet rays of the spectrum. Now, however, the method has been extended so as to include the yellow and red rays, known as the all-day exposure method. Here the lecturer showed a photograph taken by Mr. Burbank, '89, of two sodium lines. It is the first one of the kind that has ever been produced. America has done more in the last fifty years to bring photography to perfection...
