Herbert Howard, son of Sir Esmé Howard, British Ambassador to the U. S., in company with one Edward Bullough, fellow student at Caius College, Cambridge, paid a visit to Pope Pius XI. They presented to His Holiness a petition asking the Canonization of the Blessed Cardinal Fisher, onetime Chancellor of Cambridge, and the Blessed Thomas More, onetime Lord Chancellor of England. In the 16th Century these men opposed King Henry VIII's divorce from his first (Catholic) wife; both were beheaded.
