Joseph Paul Di Maggio Jr. learned baseball on San Francisco's windy Funston playground, baseball kindergarten of big-league players like Oscar Vitt, Alvin Crowder, Umpire Babe Pinelli. One day the playground coach, Edward Hennessey, found him peering through a knothole at the San Francisco Seals, introduced him to their president, Charlie Graham.
