...such as the dignified "Domine Deus" from Gloria, the serious "Non ti Lusinghi la Crudeltade," Lucio's aria from Tito Manilo, and the sublime aria of Irene, "Sposa son Disprezzata," from Bajaset-it was in the dark, angry arias of fierce battles and even fiercer love that her full vocal range was given the most expression...
...America, "intellectuals" (what are those?), the culture of Silicon Valley, and the strange habits of deconstructionists. After all, what better material for entertainment than that which is actually happening and unfolding around you? So goes the mantra of Tom Wolfe. He has established himself as the most visible (or vocal) proponent of detailed realism in American letters today, and his entire body of work is permeated by the premise that the best subject for a story is that elusive little thing called real life...

We plucked out banjo parts on three or four songs, though we kept only one sample. The beloved glockenspiel was a spur of the moment decision, which proved difficult, as the studio's version of the instrument was a few blocks short of a glock (the thing looked like the grin of an unlucky hockey player). This improvising was exciting and nerve-wracking. It was creative energy...
