...recent days, the Islamic Republic has become increasingly vocal in its complaints of interference on the part of Western politicians and journalists. On Monday, it accused BBC's Persian-language station and the Voice of America (VOA) of being "officially the spiritual children of [Benjamin] Netanyahu," the Prime Minister of Israel. "Their aim is to weaken the national solidarity, threaten territorial integrity and disintegrate Iran," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Ghashghavi told reporters. "This is the agenda given to VOA and BBC Persian after their budgets were approved by the U.S. Congress and the British Parliament...

...first big problem emerged immediately after Benedict's surprise gesture of rapprochement when it turned out that one of the four bishops brought back into the fold, British-born Richard Williamson, was a vocal Holocaust denier. That required weeks of Vatican damage control. But another clash is brewing that may seem less explosive to the outside world but is actually more problematic for long-term church relations. For the Society is now preparing to openly defy the Holy See again. The group has announced that on June 27, three new priests and three deacons will be ordained at its seminary...

...March, Washington announced a $5 million reward for information leading to his capture, describing Mehsud as a "key al-Qaeda facilitator." And over the past week alone, he claimed responsibility for five separate terrorist attacks, including the bombing of a luxury hotel in Peshawar and the killing of a vocal anti-Taliban cleric in Lahore. ...fraternity. But over the course of 52 minutes, you also hear what's missing: tension. Even though there are flashes of experimentation (NYU-educated, these boys have admirably eclectic taste in instruments) and plenty of minor chords, Grizzly Bear's politeness is a little oppressive. Without a hint of vocal darkness or a sudden stab of musical chaos, the lyrics gradually dissolve into a series of gumdrops, and the falsetto harmonies lose some of their charm; at its lowest, Veckatimest sounds like an album recorded by castrati at a beach house. So maybe it's not a breakout...
