Last week, on the heels of previous sales by American and TWA, United announced a new volley: round-trip specials, up to 45% off regular 21-day advance-purchase fares. United was quickly matched by six other major carriers. Deeper digging yields deeper discounts. From Hardyston, about four miles away, Georgio Gallara, 24, the owner of Tony's Pizza & Pasta, and an employee, Jeremy Giordano, 22, drove off in Giordano's Pontiac Grand Am with two pies.
