Usage:

...fortunately director Ralph Murphy has charted the course of his feamy schooner around these perils. Conflict between his remaining son, who now manufactures near beer, "the nearest we will ever got to beer," and Nails, his erst-while truck driver, and present racket king, brings the action to a head with shootings...

...spurs the the interested observer to inquire whether the movement will spread to the House dining halls. Much water, not unmixed with nobler elements, has passed under the bridge since the University last dispensed larger with magnificent indifference. Whether she can recapture the first fine careless rapture of pre-Volsteadian days is, of course, another question...

Senator Borah, oratorically extraordinary gentleman from Idaho, a fortnight ago tramped southward to Augusta, Georgia, heart of the Southern "Dry" belt; there, naturally, made a speech Volsteadian in tone. He deplored "nullification" of the 18th Amendment, did Mr. Borah. Yet, had it not been for the lazy hot sun, many a disenfranchised Negro might have scented an anomaly, might have pointed out to the Senator that here, indeed, was where pride-wounded "Colonels" first conceived the effective thought of "nullification."
