...Drive In’s songs pack a wallop, hitting the ground running in excellent form. The missteps occur when the band attempts to stretch a really great three and a half minutes into a six minute mini-epic that lacks forward motion. Bixler and Rodriguez have forgone that problem, not resting on any patterns—other than some near-patience-breaking extended stretches of ambient noise—for too long. The ambience serves as a segue between the music as they sustain one continuous unit, five segments of which make up the track listing, some with their...

LONG BEFORE THE Aviator, Martin Scorsese was making epics about men with brutal allure who win the big prize, then spiral into dementia. This 1980 film (available alone or in a four-film set of prime Scorsese features) still packs a wallop as maybe the finest of all boxing dramas. For its silver-anniversary edition, the director has added six fascinating mini-documentaries and three audio tracks with no fewer than 13 commentators (including the film's subject, Jake La Motta, now 83). But the movie stands on its own, undefeated. It's psychodrama with grand-opera intensity...

...years and based the design on Mustangs from '67 to '70, probably the car's best period. In a bit of retro pandering, even the shark-nose grille is back. And at $19,410 for the V-6 and $24,995 for the GT, the car packs a wallop for the price. It can no longer be dismissed as the ugly American of sports cars...

Fans should consider this possibility: some players are great. In 1927, when Ruth became the first player to wallop 60 home runs, only one other major leaguer, Ruth's Yankee teammate Lou Gehrig, hit more than 30. Indeed, the Babe connected more times that year than 11 of the 15 other teams. (And what illegal substance was he on? Prohibition-era booze.) Bonds could be playing at that level. When he walks to the plate, he's not really facing the pitcher on the mound; he's facing down the legends of the game. That quest is motivation enough...

...episodes, however, will probably please those who complained that Season 4 overemphasized domestic drama--rather than Mob stories, the show's popcorn hook--and lacked focus. None have the Edward Albee gut wallop of last season's climax, but they are more consistent and action heavy. A bunch of mobsters arrested in the '80s get paroled ("The Class of '04," the media dub them), including Tony Blundetto (Steve Buscemi), who went to jail for a heist Tony Soprano was supposed to be on. Determined to go straight, "Tony B." is driving a linen-delivery truck while working to become...
