His wife has remarried, and his father, formerly a poor clerk, has climbed to amazing heights upon the reputation of his deceased son, one of the great war heroes of France. What inconvenience, then, to have the son resurrected. The only good hero is a dead hero, and not only that, but the son reveals that identification tags were mixed and his posthumous glory belongs to somebody else...

Perhaps the fear, in this case, is an empty one, but it is usually true that when a band of zealots with a cry of "Allah!" pluage with proselytizing fervor into a war for a cause, the validity of the means becomes obscured in the worth of the end. The liberties taken by anti-German historians in the war are well known, and the dubious statement is current that sixty per cent of the babies born of tobacco smoking mothers die in two years. At least, no doubt, a man drinking aldehyde will replace the policeman...

...many people, is the one great crime of the Bolsheviki, but if it were not for them, the Czar and all his train would have returned and a White Terror would have resulted to make the Red Terror look like a kindergarten game. There would have been a civil war against the peasants to regain land innumerable pogroms against the Jews, and the worst tyranny in modern history would have been restored. For what the Bolsheviki did all posterity will thank them...
