When the Colonial Club was first formed, great objection was made to its site on Quincy street as not a convenient one in any respect. It was claimed that the expanse of the College Yard separated it from Ward One and that it was only accessible by rail from other parts of the city. Even the Warren estate, now proposed for the Harvard Union, was urged as being more desirable, and an unavailing effort was made to buy it.
