He says that out of the 1,452 prisoners, 1,445 profess membership in some religious denomination, 1,034 are native Americans, 1,008 held jobs at the time of their crime, 707 had gone to school up to the sixth grade, 67 have college degrees (an increase from 19 for the previous year). Died. Thomas Mott Osborne, 67, pioneer in prison reform, onetime (1914-15 and 1916) warden of Sing Sing, newspaper editor;* at Auburn, N.Y., of heart disease. He dropped dead on the street.
