...spring evenings. There have been too few of these in recent years and they have been too perfunctory. Considerations of weather of course prevent any definite schedule, but if it became a custom for members of the Glee Club to gather at some spot in the Yard on warm evenings and sing for a little while merely for the pleasure of it, much would be done to cultivate more enjoyable popular singing, as well as to add a delightful touch to the Yard that has usually been experienced only on Class...

...sports and do not exist at other seasons of the year. Imagine attempting to play basketball in the spring or autumn in a hot gymnasium. Hockey can only exist at the present time when there is ice, and even with a rink, nobody would want to play it in warm weather. These different forms of athletics are to be given up entirely (for to my mind that would be the result of an abolition of intercollegiate athletics) merely because they happen to be sports fitted for indoor work. Yet, the three major sports would go on all winter, and would...

Plays every year or every few years will meet with a warm reception in Cambridge, but they will not have as much effect as more frequent exhibitions of talent, even if it is amateurish. At present the inspiration to future play-wrights comes from club theatricals and Boston performances. Would it not be possible to develop, with the assistance of the English Department, a series of plays which would open opportunities to talent representing the entire University? As a centre for this activity we should suggest the Union. Monthly plays would be of value to the embryo writers and actors...

...practice or games of the eleven, and last evening at the mass meeting less than one fourth of the class condescended to be present., Rumor has it that most of the class are planning to see the Dartmouth game this afternoon. We can only say to these luke-warm Freshmen that they have three years before them in which they can look upon the University games as their chief interest. At present their duty is to their class team--if indeed they are so indifferent as to look upon the effort of backing their team as an unpleasant duty, rather...
