Democracy Disney World at New York City's Election Plaza, 4:35 p.m. E.T. The unseasonably warm weather brought tourists and New Yorkers out in droves to Rockefeller Center's "Election Plaza," an enchanting display of democracy on ice - literally. NBC has temporarily transformed the iconic Rockefeller skating rink into a frozen map of the U.S.; the states will turn red or blue this evening as the election results are announced. In front of the art deco landmark, a gigantic TV screens display footage of the past 20 months of the campaign as The Today Show ticker streams news updates...

...Comes Out for - Obama? 12:45 p.m. E.T. Most of the country is experiencing unseasonably warm, dry weather today, which should boost turnout for Obama. (Studies have shown that Democrats are less likely to vote in bad weather; it is rainy and cool in Philadelphia but the turnout seems to be big.) In lieu of the double-entendre bons mots assigned to Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan, Craig communicates in grunts and sullen...

The New Jersey--based company, which provides universal color standards for design industries and manufacturers worldwide, predicted two years ago that purple would be everywhere this fall. Eiseman sees the hybrid color as a reflection of "discontent and desire for change," a quarrel between cool blue (peace, hope) and warm red (passion, anger, turmoil...

...behind her in little wisps and curlicues. She set down the day’s purchases on the table and poured herself a glass of water from the stone jug in the cupboard, drinking it all in a single enthusiastic gulp. She burped softly and smiled to herself. How warm the day was! Her cheeks were slightly sunburnt, and she pressed them, first one, then the other, against the palms of her hands, which were cool from the glass. She wanted now to commune with the breezes, out on the veranda maybe, or in the shadows of the cypress trees...
