...summoned to choose a new Republican Floor Leader to succeed the late Senator Lodge and to nominate men for the Republican vacancies on committees. The Floor Leader is ordinarily Chairman of the caucus. Senator Curtis of Kansas, as assistant leader and whip, called the conference and presided.
