...another boy who he remarks is "in really great shape - i am just finished riding my bike on a 25 mile journey now heading to the gym - what school like for you this year?" As a result, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a left-leaning congressional watchdog group, has asked the House Committee on Standards and Official Conduct to investigate, saying the legislators have "an obligation to protect the teenagers who come to Congress to learn about the legislative process." The committee, it said, "must investigate any allegation that a page has been subjected to sexual advances...
...WHAT IT HAS ACTUALLY DONE Has run radio and television ads attacking vulnerable G.O.P. incumbents, apparently exaggerating at least some of its claims against them. The independent watchdog group Factcheck.org a project of the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg Public Policy Center, chided Majority Action for digging back to three trips that Ohio Congresswoman Deborah Pryce took six years ago to support its claim that she "just seems to be on vacation...
Marketers' use of neuroscience technologies has alarmed some consumer groups, mainly in the U.S., which fear that it could lead to the discovery of an inner buy button, which, when pressed, would turn us into roboshoppers. The drop in collections, Daley says, came...
...watchdog group's beef with Interior is tepid compared with the blast delivered a day earlier by the department's own inspector general, Earl Devaney. In scorching testimony before a House Government Reform subcommittee the no-nonsense Devaney charged that during his seven years as Interior's IG his revelations of misdeeds and foul-ups have been routinely "disregarded by the department." Numerous IG reports on regulations circumvented, procurement irregularities, project failures and bureaucrats being awarded bonuses despite their failures have been met with "vehement challenges" by Interior officials "to the quality of our audits, evaluations and investigations," he told...
