Leaving out of account, however, Yale's reputation for meeting emergencies, and judging her from what she did Saturday, there are two or three respects in which she is stronger than last year, and as many in which she is weaker. Her centre is practically impregnable. Pennsylvania soon gave up hopes of gaining there. Most of Yale's gains were through the centre, partly through Butterworth's phenomenal rushing, and partly because her own centre was expert in opening a way. Yale's left side of the line with Beard and Hinkey was strong enough so that Pennsylvania...
...first thought, it was decidedly a disappointment that the 'varsity made such a small score. The opinion has been right along that the B. A. A. eleven is weaker than usual. Not only did this eleven prove itself fully as strong as usual, however, but the 'varsity played so well as to prevent even the danger of being scored against. Harvard's work, under the conditions, was creditable, but formed a poor basis for judging of the real strength of the team. In their defensive play, the Harvard line showed a strength and steadiness which was decidedly encouraging. Only once during the whole game did Cornell by legitimate rushing...
Harvard will meet Cornell today on Manhattan Field, New York. The score of the game at Springfield last year was 20 to 14, but Cornell is generally believed to be much weaker now than then. Princeton has beaten her 46 to 0, but Yale and the University of Pennsylvania have not yet measured their strength against...
