Usage:

...Fallacies. Though written by a historian, the book doesn’t cover any history (except by way of critique). Instead, Fischer categorizes the fallacious arguments historians make everyday into a few pages of easy-to-avoid mistakes. I don’t claim to hold even the weakest candle to Professor Fischer, but I’ve found that two of his fallacies rear their ugly heads everyday as Americans—conservatives, liberals, alike—attempt to clarify their views on the war in Iraq. For complex bioelectrical reasons, that turns out to be a perfect way for the brain to lower the strength of the connections between its neurons. Intermittent firing makes the connections leaner and more efficient and may even allow the weakest ones to drop out, clearing the mind so that it can learn something new in the morning...

...Alexander to the screen. But it is difficult to believe that this film has any personal connection to the director; it simply lacks the sense of joy always beneath the surface of a Scorsese film. I look forward to Scorsese getting the Oscar, even if it is for his weakest film in years, so that he can go back to making films he cares about, not simply churning out Oscar bait...
