...freshman nine defeated St. Mark's School at Southboro, Saturday afternoon. The Ninety-two team played well together and batted strongly, but their opponents were very weak, and consequently the freshmen won the game without much difficulty. The only weak point in the play was the base running and it is earnestly hoped that the nine will never give another such exhibition in this respect. Last Saturday's game would have been won at the end of the ninth inning if it had not been for poor base running in the first inning. ...game of base ball was played on Jarvis yesterday between the junior and freshman nines. The game was well played by both sides The freshman team showed much improvement, especially in the infield which played a very quick game and one almost free from errors. The outfielders were very weak on ground balls, and the juniors secured several runs from their errors. Considering the condition of Bell's arm which necessarily took away much of the effectiveness of the battery, Ninety-two made a very creditable showing. During the Easter vacation, the nine took its usual spring trip, which on the whole was very successful. Although but two victories can be claimed, yet the practice was very valuable in showing where the weak points lie and the best means for remedying them. In all, six games were played; two defeats by the Washington's, one each from the Philadelphias and Bergen Points and two games won from the University of Pennsylvania was the result of the week's trip.
