...into a careless style of playing which will prove disastrous if indulged in at Princeton. Harvard's team play was good, and some fine dodging and passing was done by Blodgett and Griffing. The play of the visitors was poor at all points, and their throwing was especially weak. Reese, the captain of the Lehighs, did by far the best playing for his side, and it was due to him that the score was not higher than eight. The teams were made up as follows...

...that even if they should be beaten they would give a good account of themselves both in the field and at the bat. The exhibition of fielding by Harvard was one which would have shamed a class nine in a game on Jarvis Field, and the batting was exceedingly weak for a nine which had such a reputation for its batting abilities. When we play Yale again in Cambridge, we hope the nine will retrieve themselves in part for Saturday's playing, and there is no reason why with a sufficient amount of conscientious and hard work they should...

We must warn...

...freshmen met the sophomores yesterday on Jarvis, and met with their first defeat, Ninety-one's change battery was put in and did fairly well, but the game was lost by the weak batting of the freshmen. Ninety led until the eighth inning when Ninety-one made three runs on two hits and several bases on balls. At the beginning of the ninth, things looked dark for the sophomores, but they managed to bunch several hits and, by the aid of Babbit's excusable passed balls, brought their score up to seven. The freshmen were shut out in the ninth...

...running of the home team and the bungling work of the Amherst third baseman and left fielder. The pitcher, catcher and second baseman played the best fielding game for Amherst. For Harvard, Dean's work at second was excellent. The batting of the nine as a whole was terribly weak, seventeen men striking out and but few hits made. The best batting for Harvard was done by Corning and Mason...
