...very careless about getting off before the ball, but also four times in the course of the practice the 'Varsity was penalized for offside play. The most encouraging feature of the practice was the brilliant playing of the tackles. Although it was feared that they would be the weak positions in the line, the appearance of new material has changed the outlook entirely...

...eleven yesterday was marked by strong defensive work on the part of the line-men, and by brilliant long runs by the backs. The steady line-bucking which has been the plan of attack in all the practice games was given up for end plays. Against the weak ends of the second eleven they were very effective. Eaton, who has not been able to play since the Williams game, was allowed to play a short time, but soon gave place to J. Lawrence. Donald also played left tackle in the second half and greatly strengthened the line by his aggressiveness...

...Yale eleven defeated the Dartmouth team at Newton on Saturday by the score of 12 to 0. The game was hard fought from start to finish. Both teams were crippled because several of the best players were prevented by injuries from taking part in the game. Yale was particularly weak on the left side of the line, and it was at this point that Dartmouth directed most of her successful plays. The tackles were also below the Yale standard. Yale depended on line bucking formations, directed at the centre and tackles, but tried no end plays throughout the game...
