Strenuous efforts to overcome the handicap of variable weather conditions and limited practice are in order for the Freshman hockey squad this week. Last, night the yearlings had their initial workout under the eye of former Coach Alfred Winsor '02, stacking up against the University seven in a hard forty-five minute scrimmage. In the few minutes of play before Freshman second-string men were sent into the game the University seven scored four goals, two by Rigelow, and one each by Emmons and Owen. Yesterday afternoon the '24 team had a stiff practice under the supervision of L. Curtis '16, who is assisting Coach L. M. Lombard '17. The weather was so severe that there was little practice in carrying the puck and shooting goals, and Teams A and B scrimmaged a large part of the time. The line-up of the teams remained unchanged...
Because of the cold weather yesterday all the track squad went inside the cage. The distance and relay runners jogged several laps around and then went in. The only men who did any serious work were the sprinters and hurdlers. The jumping standards were removed and the men had the length of the cage to run. The hurdlers especially came in for hard work. R. S. Whitney '22, who will represent the University at the B. A. A. games showed fine form in both the low and high hurdles. Whitney will have to do some fast running February...
