Freshman crew candidates were called out on Wednesday, January 12. Sixty-eight men responded to the call. Of these 38 were from the academic department and 30 from the Sheffield Scientific School. The average weight of the candidates for the crew was 153 pounds. The men were quickly thinned out, those who were physically unable to endure the training being dropped. The work has consisted of running, light exercise in the gymnasium and regular rowing in the tank. Progress in mastering the stroke is of course very slow as the men with the exception of the few who rowed...
