Teeth grow from tiny buds (tooth germs) which are present in the gums at birth. Drs. Harry H. Shapiro of Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons and Bernice L. Maclean of Hunter College removed some buds from week-old kittens, transplanted them to the mouths of other kittens and full-grown cats.
