...something was amiss. The party seemed more crowded than cool. Kidman walked the red carpet, lingered on the fringes, then told friends she just wanted to go home and take a bath. And there was the final sketch of the evening. Miramax co-chairman Harvey Weinstein and DreamWorks co-owner Jeffrey Katzenberg, both players in this year's especially combative Oscar race, took the stage in gladiator uniforms for a mock therapy session that hit a little too close to home. "You fat f___!" exclaimed Katzenberg at one point, echoing a sentiment not uncommon in Hollywood but usually muttered behind...

...Miramax lost its magic? That's the question Hollywood has been asking for months, and it was posed yet again after the awards ceremony on March 24. ...that book came in response to the hundreds of doctoral students I’ve talked with and what they’ve told me. All of them are very good at distracting themselves. The hardest part often is just to sit down. When Larry Weinstein and I were at the Writing Center, we used to joke that the single most important implement for a writer was a pot of glue: you paint it on the chair and then you sit down...

Though I was cheering for Harvard’s own Dan Weinstein ’03 in short track, I have never become “ra-ra” when American favorites try to follow through on expectations and win gold. While that doesn’t cause me many problems during the Winter Olympics, the Summer Olympics are horrible. We’re always huge favorites in track-and-field and men’s basketball. Many of our local athletes also happen to be extremely cocky. Do I root for Maurice Greene in the 100 meters...
