Even a Student Vagabond is now and then sorely tempted by the bright lights and dancing figures, so while solar eclipses and state income taxes wend their way through the class room, the Vagabond will drowsily clutch his bottle and enjoy a brief nap in preparation for an evening of relaxation from the strain of being intellectual among the greater immortals. For, although the Pudding show comes every year, it is not always with the brand of music and dancing that accompany the present show. ...this time of year the casual visitor to the College Yard--if there are casual visitors at this time of year--might easily be led to think that the old order hath changed and that all roads now lead to the Phillips Brooks House. Hither wend their way perplexed Freshmen seeking information; artful upperclassmen seeking Freshmen Handbooks, and vexed graduate students seeking rooms. Hither soon will turn the thrifty seeking text books at small expense. Soon will follow the hungry their mouths watering at the thought of refreshments which follow the receptions for Freshmen, Graduate students, Law students and others...

...much good any of these meetings does is doubtful, if one expects that a renascence of religious fervor is to spring forth from the hearts of those who wend their way to Northfield or to Lake George or any other of the collegiate Chautauquas. Of course they do afford pleasant rendezvous with other brightened and enlightened who can spend holiday hours hearing inferior lectures which they would cut were they given at college. So perhaps they are quite necessary. At least they do keep the Billy Sunday tradition vital in the college world and give many a young wall flower...
