...unusually large number of candidates for the '88 class nine appeared for practice on Jarvis Field, yesterday afternoon. The candidates, under the direction of Captain Palmer, did fielding work for half an hour or so in the early part of the afternoon, and then went to the nets, where they practised batting to Palmer's and Austin's pitching.
