Several years later, when the three labs, the University of Arizona among them, produced their wet-blanket dates for the Turin shroud, a possibility flashed through Garza-Valdes' mind. What if the shroud too had a "bioplastic" varnish--and the labs had been fooled into decreeing an object younger than it actually was? In May 1993 Garza-Valdes traveled to Turin, microscope in hand, and was put in touch with Giovanni Riggi, the microanalyst who had parceled out the 1988 samples. Riggi let Garza-Valdes examine a tiny piece of shroud that he assured him came from the same batch...

Richards fares the best out of the four in a role that might be remembered for the rest of her career (whether this movie will start it or end it is a whole other question). Almost deserves a cult following, almost. But it's just...

...second half is too little musical creativity spread over too much time. "Cool Kiss" and "The Date" combine blinding flashes of white noise with lyrics ("Keep your hands up off of my lips / Capsize just like a tanker / Kill Kill Piss Piss") that are an amateur Freudian's wet dream. "Son" is a gently motoring ode to Weiland's new son, a la "Kooks" off Hunky Dory. "Jimmy Was a Stimulator" is a pleasant piece of glam/new wave with a nonsense lyric and a "Whole Lotta Love"-style freak-out middle...
