In the election that followed New York deserted the Brown Derby and went for Hoover, but, as a sort of political compensation, Mr. Roosevelt squeaked through to victory with a 25,000-vote majority. After two years as Governor, he was renominated and all on his own strength in 1930 won a whacking big victory with 725,001 votes to spare.
