Usage:

...Yards is currently bobbing. Directed by Jonathan Lynn (My Cousin Vinny), it's a story more machined than created, in which Oz Oseransky (Matthew Perry), an innocent Canadian dentist, gets involved with a semiretired mob hit man (Bruce Willis) and a legion of his former colleagues who want to whack Willis for ratting out their boss. Somehow Oz survives, and gets the gunman's gorgeous ex-wife (Natasha Henstridge) for good measure...

...this time it wasn't so funny. Boston Bruins defenseman Marty McSorley, apparently forgetting he didn't play baseball, raised his stick in the air as if it were a bat and swung at Vancouver Canucks left wing Donald Brashear's head. The egregious (though not entirely unprecedented) whack-heard-round-the-world left Brashear unconscious and twitching on the ice for about 10 minutes, blood streaming from his face. Paramedics had to take Brashear off the ice since he still could not walk. The consequences seemed obvious: Both men would miss games, one from suspension and one from injury...

...Swiss vote, while J?rg Haider's ultra-conservative Freedom Party in January rose to co-ruler in Austria's coalition government. Even Schroeder has tried to drum up support for the CDU, warning that if the party dissolves, Germany's democratic balance will be thrown out of whack. While Schaueble's decision to step down as party chairman (the CDU hasn't named a successor yet) is a good first step toward restoring faith in the party, pols on both sides of the aisle are counting on a sustained rebound...
