...piped over the ship's intercom: "Good morning. This is your friendly boatswain's mate. It's oh-nine-hundred and time to turn out. If you are hungry after your long sleep, there are coffee and sweet rolls waiting for you in the galley." Whereupon the ship's Dixieland band crashed into a rousing version of the reveille call...
After several reels, Gardner kisses Taylor, whereupon Taylor slaps Gardner, which seems bad manners even in frontier Texas. Follow some shooting, riding, burning, and some pallid attempts by the scriptwriters to make the whole affair into a kind of road-company Shane. When at last the end arrives, slow as an old mule across the desert, it brings the funniest movie scene in years: Taylor and Quinn shooting each other dead and dropping to the barroom floor simultaneously, like well-rehearsed ballet dancers. Beria, presumably, may be doing the same with Malenkov...
...radioactive antibodies as "guided missiles" against cancerous tissue was reported by Doctors David Pressman and Leonhard Korngold, both of Memorial Center. They injected a suspension of mouse cancer into rabbits, whereupon the rabbits reacted by producing antibodies with a special affinity for the invading cancer cells. Serum containing these antibodies was taken from the rabbits and combined with radioactive iodine, then injected into the cancerous mice. When the cancers were later removed from these mice, the doctors found that the radioactive antibodies had concentrated in the malignant tissue. The hope: to transport destructive amounts of radioactivity to human cancer tissue...
