...sure, he can still snap misleading orders at his comically feckless crew (led by Willem Dafoe), yearn impotently for a pregnant journalist (Cate Blanchett), hope a visiting fan (Owen Wilson) will turn out to be his previously unacknowledged son, and despise his rival (Jeff Goldblum), who knows how to navigate the modern world and has the swell boat to prove...
Most of the impressive supporting cast showcase Scorsese’s ability to craft small but memorable performances. John C. Reilly shines in his small role, as does Willem Dafoe in a brief cameo as a tabloid editor. It was great to see Alan Alda back on the big screen with a fairly meaty role as a senator who is out to get Hughes. And if nothing else, The Aviator reiterates that having Ian Holm and Alec Baldwin on screen, if only briefly, is nearly always worthwhile. Unfortunately, Cate Blanchett’s portrayal of Katharine Hepburn doesn?...
...taps an emotional nerve as he stabs deceptive employer Royal Tenenbaum in the stomach, then loyally drags him to safety. But multi-dimensional characters are nowhere to be found aboard the cramped Life Aquatic, where the equivalent manservant role of Klaus Daimler is played with one-note efficiency by Willem Dafoe. Owen Wilson (as Zissou’s alleged illegitimate offspring) and Anjelica Huston (as Zissou’s dedicated wife) play their roles with such maddeningly detached insincerity that even their supposedly emotive scenes are one thin ironic line away from bad line readings at community theater auditions...

He wants to overthrow the Roman occupiers, while Jesus wants freedom for the soul. To fulfill his covenant, Judas must betray not Jesus but his own ideal of revolution. He must hand the man he most loves over to the Romans...
What is it about unmanned speed cameras that infuriates some fast-driving Europeans? Willem Laurens, an unemployed bodyguard, is accused of leading a gang that has torched 26 cameras in Flanders. "People don't like the Big Brother mentality," explains senator Jean-Marie Dedecker, a Flemish conservative. And not just in Belgium. Some 30 cameras are attacked every year in the Netherlands. In the U.K., Motorists Against Detection says it's destroyed hundreds. The mother of such crusades is the Tuf-tuf Club. Harald Kolijn, 33, from Helmond in the southern Netherlands, started it as a joke in 2000 with...
