Professor William H. Pickering, of the Astronomical Observatory, will make an expedition to northern Africa next summer, to observe the eclipse of the sun on August 30. He will take with him one of the small telescopes of the Observatory, which he will set up on an eminence in Phillippeville, Algeria.
