...fast nor as clever as last year, when his chief value to the team was his ability to knock in rebounds. One reason for this is that this year there is no forward who can get all the way up the rink for a shot. The position of left wing was filled by Sortwell almost from the very start and, although he was not used to that part of the line, he has developed rapidly and works well with the other forwards. Right end presented the greatest difficulty for the coaches to solve for the only men on the squad...

...before the Yale game the University hockey team was defeated by the second last night, 3 to 1. Huntington was again in the game, as also was Sortwell, but neither was in the best of form and the forward line was weakened somewhat on this account. Pierce at right wing also seemed to have suffered a setback and hardly held up his end against Baldwin. The defense, too, was not shining as brilliantly as usual and had a tendency to rush at the man carrying the puck and, when attempting to get the puck out of the corners...

With the exception of the left and position, the University team is in very good team-play condition and should be able to give a good account of itself. ...University players have improved considerably lately and are rapidly developing good team-play. Although Palmer is naturally a centre man, his work on the wing is better than at the beginning of the season and he now works well with the other forwards. Duncan, who play's beside him, is returning to his form of last year, and gets more snap and dash into his work than heretofore. Huntington, although in the line-up as right centre, really plays a roving style of game and his most valuable asset is his great speed in following back and general defensive work...

...University team showed marked improvement in taking the puck out of the corners and the following back by the centre men was good although the wings were slow in this respect. Palmer who played in Sortwell's place at left wing was inclined to be either just ahead of, or just behind the play, but in the second half showed better judgement and more dash. Huntington displayed his usual excellent all-round form, being the mainstay of the attack and aiding the defence materially. Duncan also played a strong game working particularly well with Huntington in taking the puck down...
