...win today as we hope and expect, a celebration will of course follow, and this is as it should be. But we must not rush forward blindly. If there are to be bonfires and fireworks, or indeedgeneral demonstrations of any kind, let them take place on the field where the victory was won, rather than on the street or in the college yard. Jarvis is far better in its facilities and its position, and we cannot afford to sun the gauntlet of the city authorities or to put our trees and college buildings in jeopardy. A little discretion may avert...

Perhaps the chief interest of the foot-ball season centres in today's game with Princeton. From all we can learn the Princeton team is very strong, stronger, in fact, than Yale; but this simply means that our eleven will work the harder. We must win-not at any cost, as seems to be the motto of a certain college-but by every effort within our power as honorable men. There is no need for us to urge our eleven to do their utmost; their energy and faithfulness thus far are sufficient evidence of their conscientious work today...

...team will be watched with interest since it may be expected to show at least in some degree our prospects of success during the remainder of the season. The work that has been done in practice has certainly been earnest, the coaching excellent, and if our team win the championship the honor of the victories will belong to the students and graduates alike. So far as we can see not a stone that may contribute to success has been left unturned. The team is being trained carefully and the graduates have given liberal support both by personal attention and money...

Pennsylvania presented a strong team and Harvard had much harder work to win than the score indicates. Harvard's general play was somewhat disappointing. At times her work was brilliant while at others it was extremely loose. The rush line failed to block well, and Pennsylvania had little trouble in finding holes in it. The tackling except on the part of 3 or 4 men was high and at times far from effective. The blocking off all through the game was weak and much poorer than that in the Wesleyan game of a week ago. In the rush line Hutchinson...

...expectations of a well played and closely contested game with Pennsylvania were fully realized and the one sided score does not show how hard Harvard had to work to win. Pennsylvania played a hard and tricky game and was only kept from scoring by the sharpest work. Several times the ball was carried the length of the field by short, quick rushes, which the Harvard rush line seemed unable to check. The other weak points in Harvard's play were poor passing, fumbling by the halfbacks, and inability of the rush line to hold their opponents long enough to give...
