Yale succeeded in making the first point of the game about the middle of the first half and scored twice more soon after. Just before the end of the half Winsor made Harvard's first tally. At the start of the second half, Snow scored almost from the face-off, making the score 4 to 1 in favor of Yale, but the Harvard team improved rapidly and Rumsey and Pruyn, on passes from Winsor, caged two more goals and nearly tied the score.
